Pastoral Care, Student Welfare and Wellbeing

INTRODUCTION

Holy Family Catholic Primary School values a strong and positive climate of pastoral care. Our work in this area of school life is based on:

“Love one another,
Just as I have loved you.”
(John 13:34)

BELIEF STATEMENT

Pastoral Care may be defined as that process which creates the climate of love and care within Holy Family Catholic Primary School, for all members of the school community - student, parent, family and staff members. We value the wellbeing of one another in the school.

It originates in the attitude of respect, acceptance, understanding, compassion, tolerance, real interest and love which all members of the school community may experience towards each other throughout the various dimensions of school life.

This attitude is based on the Gospel values that underpin the ethos of the school. An attitude that is clearly reflected in the following words of Mother Teresa:

“Spread love everywhere you go:
First of all in your home, your own house.
Give love to your children, your wife, or
husband, to a next door neighbour.
Let no one come to you without
leaving better or happier. Be the living
expression of God’s kindness; kindness
in your face, kindness in your eyes,
kindness in your smile, kindness in
your warm greeting.”
- Mother Teresa

At Holy Family Catholic Primary School, we reflect our pastoral care through the words of our school motto: “Gathered in Love”.
