Welcome to Holy Family Catholic Primary School, a community that is Gathered in Love. Established in 1979 under the care of the Sisters of Mercy, our school was founded by the Cathedral Parish to support families in the Kelso area. The school sits on the site that was formerly Marsden School, a boarding school for secondary girls. It now adjoins the Head Office of the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst Ltd. From its earliest days, Holy Family has been shaped by strong family partnerships, with parents playing a pivotal role in building the faith-filled, inclusive, and vibrant community we are proud to continue today.
As we continue this journey, we honour the Wiradjuri people of the three rivers - the Macquarie, Lachlan, and Murrumbidgee as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We are privileged to learn, grow, and gather on Wiradjuri Land, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. This acknowledgment is woven into the heart of our school’s identity and reminds us daily of the deep history and continuing connection of First Nations Peoples to this land.
At Holy Family, we see ourselves as an extension of the family unit, modelled on the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, where faith, compassion, and learning are nurtured in every child. Our mission and vision call us to provide a comprehensive Catholic education in a caring, family-focused environment. We are committed to shaping the children of the future through a seven-year journey that begins in Kindergarten and continues through to Year 6. A journey that is rich in faith, learning, and wellbeing which is grounded in Gospel values, inspired by the Mercy charism.
At Holy Family, we strive to be more than just a school. We are a faith-filled community that is united in purpose and love, walking together in discipleship and hope. We celebrate growth as a community, trusting in the Gospel promise that where ‘two or more are gathered in His name, God is present among us’ (Matthew 18:20). This sacred sense of belonging shapes everything we do, as we support one another in faith, learning, and life.
Parents are the first educators, and so at Holy Family, we strive to work in genuine partnership, sharing the responsibility of nurturing a child’s growth, resilience, and spiritual development. Our staff are caring, committed, and deeply supportive. They walk alongside each child and family, creating a safe and inclusive environment where every student is seen, valued, and encouraged to flourish.
